About the Artist

Canadian artist Jan Bligh, was born and raised in New Westminster, B.C., where she graduated from the Fine Arts program at New Westminster Secondary School. Though future plans of Art School were abandoned when she married; her husband’s career afforded them the opportunity to live in many communities in Canada as well as abroad. Her exposure to the varied cultures and landscapes of Canada and other countries are reflected in her paintings. Also reflected in some of her work is an equine theme. This is derived from Jan’s years of participation in the discipline of dressage and her day to day involvement with horses.

Although largely self-taught, she takes every chance to join a workshop or class, including the White Rock School of Art, where she enrolled each summer. The workshops were attended by many prominent artists (and students) from all across North America and provided invaluable instruction and experimentation to all who attended.

Jan’s art has shown in various exhibitions and her art has been accepted for juried shows.

She now resides on Vancouver Island where she continues to paint and enjoy time with her family, friends, and her goofy Boston Terrier.
